2GB WMA/MP3 Digital Audio Player Reviews
If you've been looking for a cheap MP3 player that fulfills basic needs, this is it. I've had everything from Archos to no-name players and they all have shortcomings. They all break prematurely, so why spend money foolishly?br /br /PRO: br /Remembers where it was stopped. Just shut it off and it will resume where you left off.br /No unnecessary video capability. br /Quick enough Fast Forward function (some are unacceptably slow).br /Doesn't jumble file order up like Sansa players - plays in correct sequence for audio books.br /Uses one AAA battery - no waiting for a recharge from a USB port.br /Basic but effective equalizer function - Normal, Rock, Jazz and Classical.br /Basic Repeat functions.br /Readable display, even for a codger like me pushing 60.br /USB function mounts quickly - easy to drag and drop files.br /Doesn't need a USB cable (but see below).br /Small and easy to carry.br /It's cheap.br /br /CON:br /Cheaply made with thin plastic and fragile On-Off-Hold switch. br /Like all GPX products, poor battery life. Solution: rechargeables or Dollar Store batteries.br /Goofy push-out USB connector not keyed. Can be inserted either way but only one is correct.br /br /I paid plus S/H for this thing and it might last 2 years if I'm lucky. But, I won't be upset when it fails since I paid so little for it.br /br /

You get what you pay for. - Warren T. Trollinger - Idaho
I bought this unit for a quick stand-in replacement for an RCA S1010A, both units run on AAA batteries, for which I own rechargeable batteries for.br /First thing I noticed was the sound quality. With a pair of decent ear buds, it's horrible. No bass, and the firmware EQ doesn't help there, though it might if there was better firmware available somewhere. Of this writing I haven't found better firmware yet for this unit.br /You won't notice the sound quality if you are using the unit with a high powered stereo, it does have plenty of volume.br /It's also very hard to plug it in to a usb port, the connection is horrible, and it's hit or miss to make a solid usb connection, a port would have been better than a slide out plug, which is flimsy plastic.br /I have to hand it to RCA on this one, granted, I paid over 50 dollars for a 500 MB unit, but it's sound quality beats this unit hands down.br /I would have paid more to have better firmware than this unit currently has. It's not easy to find a song out of a possible 1000 songs.br /On the plus side, I liked it enough it keep it, so that does say something positive about it. It's not a horrible unit, but I will probably end up buying another more expensive unit which means this one will be good for a cheap storage device, not a music player.br /br /A word of advice with mp3 players, if you don't check your files for errors before you load them onto the unit, eventually they seem to corrupt the firmware until it no longer works properly which is what happened with the RCA, two years later after warranty they are still trying to help me get it working again which says allot about them.
